How Good Is Juicing For You When Avocado Is Blended Into The Mix?

avocao juice
en.wikipedia.org

In general, we are consuming far too many calories, yet ironically, we are starving ourselves of nutrients. There are gazillions of empty calories in processed and take-away foods, fried foods and dairy which are of absolutely no nutritional value to us whatsoever.

The fastest way to become obese, unhealthy, lazy, and therefore thoroughly miserable is to carry on scoffing the takeaways, the refined sugar, the cakes, the fried food etc. But you can consume the nutrients minus the calories.

The thing about juicing is that you can see off up to six servings of fresh fruits and veggies in a single glass; without having to chomp your way laboriously through mountains of apples, celery, and carrots. Juicing tears down the cell walls of the produce and extracts the vital nutrients and vitamins that your body needs to operate at peak efficiency. Moreover, juicing is one of the best ways to lose weight. That's why I love the phrase invented by Jason Vale (The Juicemaster) - "liquid sunshine" it pretty much sums it up.

Fresh vegetable and fruit juice is extremely low in calories, and the calories that you do consume with juicing are quality calories that your body needs. Pay no attention to those who bang on about the calories in juicing adding to your overall calorie intake - the idea is to replace some of your meals with juice. Of course, having a calorie laden meal and a glass of juice together is not going to help your weight loss - everyone knows that! Some fruits are high in sugar and calories, which is why you rarely see them in the tried and trusted juicing recipes.

Juicing provides lots of fibre if you add a tablespoon of pulp to your juice every time you make a drink, and will help to flush out excess toxins from your body. Juicing is the best all-around way to heal yourself slim. Heal yourself slim? Juicing does both, it heals you and slims you.

The avocado tree originates in Central Mexico and belongs to the same family as cinnamon and bay laurel. Avocado is also known as alligator pear because its shape and the leather like appearance of the skin reminds us of an alligator's skin.

Avocados have a green skin and while the fruit matures on the tree it only ripens once plucked. The ripe fruit has dark green or purple skin and cream coloured flesh inside. As a provider of fats an excellent food for vegetarians and vegans as it provides a high amount of mono unsaturated fats, the much needed fat, which is very difficult to obtain from other vegetable sources.

Avocado can be eaten raw as well as slightly cooked. The reason it shouldn't be cooked for too long is the skin becomes inedible with prolonged heat. Avocado Oil is well known for its benefits to skin, and its culinary uses. The oil is extracted from the fruit pulp rather than the seeds and is edible. It can be used as a cooking oil or added to other dishes or salads.

It is used in cosmetics because of its beneficial effects on the skin. The oil is absorbed easily into the skin and relieves dryness & itching of eczema and psoriasis. Avocado oil reduces age spots, heals sun damaged skin, reduces scars, softens the skin due to its moisturizing effect.

It also increases the collagen content of the skin. Cholesterol is a sterol found in all humans and animal tissue. Your body needs it to function properly and makes all that you need, but too much cholesterol can build up to dangerous levels depending on the kind of foods you eat and the rate at which your body breaks it down.

A simple change in diet can greatly improve our overall health, including the lowering of cholesterol levels. Vegetables that are full of beta carotene and naturally rich in sterols and fibre help to keep blood cholesterol levels down. Avocados are also good for lowering cholesterol. They are reputed to maintain good cholesterol while reducing bad cholesterol. They are good for your cardiovascular system. It is recommended that you get up to 15 percent of your daily calories from monounsaturated fats like those contained in avocados, but some heart experts recommend an even greater percentage. (In an 1,800-calorie diet, 15 percent translates into 30 grams per day.) FYI: A whole avocado has about 300 calories and 30 g fat.

The monounsaturated fat in avocados has been shown to lower LDL "bad" cholesterol, while raising HDL "good" cholesterol. One-fifth medium avocado (30g) has 55 calories and is also a good source of heart-healthy fibre and supplies significant quantities of potassium and folate.

In a study from Mexico, people who ate one avocado per day for a week saw total cholesterol drop 17 percent. Japanese researchers have found avocados may also protect against liver damage.

Always remember to blend Avocados into your juices, because if you try to juice them they will clog up your juicer and will not produce much juice, you get all the benefits they have to offer by blending them. Well worth giving it a go!

Losing weight need not be a tedious, unwelcome chore. There is no need to miss meals or exercise until you drop. Try juicing and discover a better body-friendly way to drop those pounds easily.

Why We Should and Really Should Juice Anyway

wikipedia.org  / juicing recipes

Most of us eat the same salads or vegetables every day. Juicing opens you to a wider range of fruits and vegetables which we are not likely to consume if eaten whole. Consuming a variety of foods is the key and only way in getting all the necessary nutrients your body needs to be in optimum health. Juicing helps you achieve this naturally without having to resort to artificially produced vitamins and minerals as supplements.

It's very hard to cover the daily recommended portions of fruit and vegetables especially if you dislike green vegetables. Juicing takes the pain out of that. It's an easy way to get your daily recommended intake because vegetable juice when combined with a sweet fruit or a squeeze of lemon or lime juice neutralizes the bitterness and makes it very palatable.

However, the most crucial point of drinking fresh juices for hard-core raw food advocates would be that food is eaten in its raw form. Cooking at high temperatures destroys enzymes and heat sensitive vitamins. That destruction is reduced to a large degree by juicing.

A fruit and vegetable juice is a liquid into which all nutrients from the fibre have been extracted making the juice highly nutritious and easily absorbed into your bloodstream. Your body does not have to expend all its energy into digestion but instead use it to maximise the nutrients instead.

The contentious issue that arises when raw food consumption is discussed is whether or not plant enzymes have a role to play in preserving our body's supply of enzymes. Those who argue otherwise say that our body has its own enzymes, that it will not have any use of enzymes from plants and that it will continue to produce enzymes for as long as we live.

The reason enzymes have become such a 'hot' topic among advocates of raw food is because enzymes are catalysts that speed up chemical reactions in the body. Enzymes equal life. Without enzymes all biological processes vital to life would slow down. All vitamins and minerals that we consume become useless. Toxic substances will build up to dangerous levels without being flushed out. Our body's ability to heal and absorb nutrients will slow down. Enzymes help the body to correctly digest food and also to provide instruction on how to utilize the various nutrients in the food source. Enzymes regulate tens of thousands of biochemical functions that take place in our body every day. Even thinking involves enzymes. Without enzymes our bodies will fail to function and life will eventually cease to exist.

Enzymes are destroyed by heat when food is cooked and also by the application of additives and preservatives in highly processed food. Whether or not the enzyme theory put forward by raw food advocates is true will continue to be proven or disproved by many.

Putting that aside, the benefits of juicing is hard to dispute. It nourishes you, it opens up to you a natural supply of vitamin and mineral supplements, it can aid you in weight loss and will help detoxify and cleanse your body simply through the nourishment it provides. It will improve your health if you have been on a lifelong diet of highly processed food, overeating and never having met the requirements of the daily recommended intake of fruits and vegetables.

The debate of whether or not your body has a lifelong supply of enzymes or whether or not we need the benefit of enzymes from raw food is not a reason to dismiss juicing as just another fad because the drawbacks of highly processed food is just too much to bear. Why anyone would not want to juice baffles me.

Nina H. Ismail believes in the benefits of juicing, eating balanced portion-conscious diets, moderate exercise and natural remedies to maintain good health and quality of life. After a cancer scare 15 years ago healthy eating and exercise has been a lifestyle that she and her family practices.

The Benefits Of Juicing To Lose Weight

commons.wikimedia.org  / juicing recipes

It is acknowledged fact that fresh foods are the best foods for weight loss. Fresh is always much better than processed or packaged food. For example, freshly baked home made bread is always better than bread bought from the shop and freshly grated cheese is better than pre-shredded cheese.

Fresh fruits and vegetables, rather than frozen, are top foods to lose weight and so are the juices that they produce. If you do not feel like eating a whole apple, orange, banana, cucumber, etc., all you have to do is juice them. The health benefits of juicing fresh vegetables and fruits is that all of the vitamins and antioxidants pool together into one great tasting drink.

Fruits and vegetables are some of the best foods for weight loss and there are many benefits of juicing them rather than eating them whole. Let's have a look what a cup of fresh fruit juice can do for you and how you can use juicing to lose weight.

The Benefits Of Juicing.
Normally when we eat foods such as fruits and vegetables, we throw away parts that contain vital vitamins and minerals. One of the great benefits of juicing foods is that these elements are extracted for consumption.

When you are juicing your fruits and vegetables, use the organic varieties. Organic fruits and vegetables have not been subjected to the chemical plant foods and pesticide sprays used in conventional farming. If you cannot use organic produce, make sure to peel everything before you put it in the juicer. The peel will contain the majority of the harmful chemicals.

Try not to buy too many fruits and vegetables at a time if you're juicing. You could possibly end up shopping for more than you will use, and the extra food will not be used and will go to waste. Try out different amounts to see how much juice you drink each day, so you know how much you have to buy in advance.

Juicing To Lose Weight.
When you are juicing to lose weight, make juices out of fruits that you like eating. This will mean that you'll enjoy the juice while still receiving the health benefits. If you start juicing using fruits you've never tasted before, you may not like the juice and therefore not likely to keep on making them, which means you won't get any benefits.

Try mixing vegetables with your favorite fruits in your juicer. Many vegetables are simple to juice and they can add important minerals and vitamins to your juice. Also, using vegetables can reduce the amount of calories in your juice, which is better for your diet plan.

On a hot day add some chopped ice to your juice to make it a cool treat. It's like drinking a smoothie while actually knowing what ingredients are in it. You know where they came from and how clean they were when they went into the juicer! It's a tasty way to chill out!
Losing weight and getting fit does not have to be difficult.

The Benefits of Green Juice For Health and Wellbeing

wikipedia.org   / juicing recipes

Eat your vegetables. That is what the sign that hangs in my kitchen says. Nearly every nutrition book can be narrowed down to those three words. Making the transition to eating more vegetables can be a challenge. Fortunately there are many easy ways to get more veggies. One of those ways is juicing. Explore different recipes. Even your kids can get in on the fun.

Here are several reasons why you should try:

Detoxing: Consuming green juices aids our body in the function of getting rid the stuff we don't need. The phytochemcials in green food are extremely complex. And so are the interactions they have in our body, but these are all for good. When we are able to naturally get rid of the toxins that build up from every day living, we increase our chances of not getting sick.

Weight Loss: Ah. This is classic, right? Our body can better maintain its ideal weight when it is fed a whole-foods plant based diet. Eat meat, but as a side. Fresh produce all day long. Snack on carrots. Eat half and avocado. Make a new juice recipe. You will find that over time your tastes change, energy goes up and waistline gets smaller.

Clearer Energy: The amazing thing about eating fresh fruit and vegetables, especially in juice form, is that they are a natural burst of energy. Straight to the blood. Clean and free. Your mind can think clearly and energy and wakefullness can be sustained for longer periods of time.

Beautiful Skin: Along the lines of detoxing, when you feed your body with more juices, then you are not only letting the body detox naturally but you are not overloading its need to detox. People who have a lot of toxins to get out may often see issues in their skin. If you sustain a juicing habit, you will see the skin begin to look younger.

Straight to the Blood: The process of juicing removes cellulose, which means the nutrients in the juice go straight into your blood stream for an almost immediate benefit to your health.

More Veggies: I am always surprised by how many veggies I can get into one glass of green juice. The sheer amount of veggies it take to make one glass of juice is truly amazing. But this means that I get the benefits of more veggies, with less effort (think about eating a salad for 45 minutes).

Get Your Minerals: when your diet is mostly whole foods (not-processed and out of a box) and plant-based, you can be sure that you are automatically getting a sufficient amount of trace minerals and nutrients you need on a daily basis.

Just Tastes Good: putting your veggies into juice form is a good idea for all the reasons stated about, but also because, well, it just tastes good. I never realized how sweet spinach and carrots are. It is almost like juicing them releases the essence of their true flavors.

The Benefits Of Juicing Carrot

The benefits of juicing carrots are mostly associated with reducing the levels of bad cholesterol in the body. Carrot juice is extremely beneficial for people suffering from cardiac diseases. The anti-inflammatory properties of carrots help in combating ulcers and bone diseases (gout and arthritis). Carrot is one of the best sources of vitamin A, that improves eyesight and health of skin. Vitamin A is an antioxidant that prevents the occurrence of pimples, acne and blemishes on skin.
The benefits of juicing are many. A glass of fresh fruit and vegetable juice is nutrient rich that fulfills the nutrient demand of your body.
Green juices help to eliminate wastes and toxins and irrigate the body, build the blood and carry oxygen and nutrients directly to the tissues.
The consumption of vegetable and fruit juices help to promote a healthy life style and promote a balanced nutritional intake.
Reap the benefits of juicing vegetables by sharing with your kids. We all know that good nutrition for kids is important. Keep your children healthy by giving them wholesome raw fruit and vegetable juices everyday. Kids will enjoy the taste even more if you combine vegetable juice with some fruit juices and blend with ice makes a wonderful tasting smoothing which is both fun and very healthy for the children and adults as well.
What are Benefits of Juicing vegetables and Fruits at home? You will soon experience the Joy of Juicing when you see an almost immediate increase in your energy, stamina, and improvement to your health in general. Believe it or not, Juicing every day can also help you to Lose Weight.
I hope the benefits of juicing are now clear to you. Make sure you drink it fresh and raw. You can add a concoction of spices to improve the taste of vegetable juices. A glass of fruit juice or vegetable juice when consumed regularly will make your body more resistant to infections. Juice fasting also gives rest to your digestive system, wherein your metabolic rate is normalized and the efficiency of the digestive enzymes increases.
Some of the benefits of juicing are that it clears the mind, balances, hormones and our metabolism, helps to balance our thyroid, our endocrine system, our pancreas and our reproductive organs. Blood chemistry can change when you do juice fasts, and juicing also thins the blood. Juices do all these things for us. Thinning the blood is important as it allows the circulation to clear areas that were clogged and to go into vital areas of our body.
The health benefits of juicing are endless. Juicing fresh fruit and vegetables provides essential nutrients for growth and renewal. These nutrients can protect you against disease and help to restore the effects of aging.
One of the benefits of juicing is that you are in control of the ingredients in your juice. Fresh, organic juice is easy to digest and is quickly absorbed into your bloodstream bringing a healthy rush of nutrients to your body. Fresh juices also taste great and are rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes and amino acids.
Juices have been likened to a blood transfusion. The juice goes right into our body and requires little digestion. Juices also flush and cleanse the organs of our body as well as provide excellent nutritive value.
Another of the benefits of juicing is that it allows us to eat more of the vegetable or fruit than we could if we were eating it raw. It is advised that you eat one pound of raw vegetables per fifty pounds of body weight. Juicing is a great and easy way for us to do this.
A rarely known benefit of juicing is that it lessens the symptoms of depression. Deficiency of certain minerals and trace minerals (magnesium, potassium, iron) as well as folic acid are thought to increase the chance of developing depression. Fresh fruit and vegetable juices are high in these nutrients so consuming them regularly helps fight against depression.
A further health benefits of juicing is improved vitality. This is a side-effect of bettered digestion and absorption by the body, which can effectively digest fruit and vegetables now that they are in juice form. The outcome is a simpler workload for the digestive system and a boost of vitality that is felt almost instantly. In fact, the nutrition found in fresh juices is the most easily digested of all food sources, and delivers a very high bio-availability.
Also.... to reap the benefits of juicing you need to drink your juice, right after you juice it. This is because when you juice your foods, it's NOT like store bought juices, they are fresh and LIVE with powerful nutrients. Once air hits these nutrients, they begin to lose their value quickly. Your fresh juice also spoils quickly too. So, only juice when you are prepared to drink all of it within a few minutes.
One of the best known benefits of juicing is that incorporating natural fruit and vegetable juices a few times in one's daily diet in place of processed foods helps when trying to lose weight. Fruit juices are healthy, low calorie substitutes for sweets. For more dietary benefits and more effective weight loss try to drink natural vegetable juices on their own, or if you find the taste a bit harsh try a combo of fruit and vegetable juices. Adding fruits will dampen the slightly unpleasant taste of raw vegetables and give them a sweeter taste depending on the fruit that you use.
I look forward to the benefits of juicing each day. I cannot imagine any other kind of drink that equals organic juice and the benefits it gives. I hope that you will try it, receive its wonderful benefits and enjoy it as much as I have.
Drinking juice made of kale, spinach, parsley, carrots, celery, and garlic is beneficial. These particular vegetables are high in vitamins B6, C, E and excellent sources of chromium, copper, and magnesium. These nutrients enhance digestion, boost metabolism and nurture healthy cells. They also help with detoxification that is essential when your body is in the process of shedding fat cells.
Kale juice is rich in all the essential vitamins required for our body. It's a source of iron, vitamin C, calcium and vitamin A. The benefits of juicing kale involves the prevention of anemia. The iron is easily absorbed by your body and thus, it alleviates the iron content of the blood, enhancing the manufacture of hemoglobin. Regular consumption of kale juice is essential for the health of teeth, gums and bones. Kale juice, being rich in vitamin A is prescribed as a prenatal nutritional requirement. Know more about the benefits of homemade organic juice.
The juice extracted from beetroot is one of the most nutrient laden juices that helps in improving the stamina of the body. The benefits of juicing beets pertain to curing digestive problems, improving blood circulation and lowering high blood pressure. Beetroot juice benefits are so experienced since it is rich in amino acids, minerals (magnesium, calcium, potassium, phosphorous, sodium etc.), vitamins and antioxidant. You can also combine it with spinach and radish juice.
The health benefits of juicing green cabbage focuses on relieving the pain of stomach ulcers. Cabbage juice is a great homeopathic treatment for this painful condition.
I am not saying that juicing is a guaranteed cure for any of the above ailments, in fact, juice recipes should be used only as a supplement to a doctor's medical treatment plan. Nevertheless, I believe the benefits of juicing will provide a nutritional supplement to your diet that will lead to a happier and healthier lifestyle.
But just reading about it will not improve your health and vitality. It is the type of thing that people become very excited about, go out and purchase the best juicer that money can buy only to have it sit in the cupboard collecting dust. Most people start off with the best of intentions but what is it exactly that prematurely destroys that momentum.
Well one is when you put the juicier up in the cabinet then it is easy to forget about. To fully enjoy the benefits of juicing, I strongly encourage you to leave the juicer out on your counter top and use it daily. This juice will be one of your greatest allies in healing. This will help you to establish a good habit which once you are used to doing it then it will become a normal part of your daily routine.
Try this and I will make one guarantee, it will change you and your families lives for the better in your time spent here on earth.

5 Tips For Juicing Greens!

By Drew Canole

Juicing vegetables is tasty, easy and beneficial for your health. Juicing vegetables is a great way to reward your body with nutrient dense vegetables, vitamins, minerals and powerful nutrients.
Many of my clients who first come to me, complain about feeling sluggish, tired, no energy, lack of sleep and often times they want to get into shape. One of the first things I recommend is a simple juice fast.

When you first start juicing greens, you might be confused on what greens to juice and how to get a good tasty juice. You don't want the juice to be bitter or unbearable. For these reasons I came up with 5 tips for juicing greens.

1. Start with a Base
Before you add any leafy greens like kale, add a base. A base includes vegetables like romaine lettuce, celery, or cucumber. You want to add high water content vegetables.
Adding celery, cucumber or romaine lettuce also makes you green juices taste better.

2. Add Leafy Greens
Next you want to add some leafy greens. I love to add kale to most of my juices.

3. Add Some Herbs
Add a handful of cilantro, parsley or basil to your juices. Herbs like cilantro and parsley are great for helping you detox.

4. Add a Little Zing
Add some GINGER. Ginger has great anti-inflammatory properties.

5. Add Lemon or Lime!
Lemon is rich in vitamin C, which helps boost your immune system, helps remove toxins from your body and also helps keep your body's pH in an alkaline state.

6. Bonus!
Add a pear or apple to sweeten it up!

What's your favorite green juice recipe? Tell us in the the comments section below!

The Best Juicing Recipes for Weight Loss – Tasty and Effective!

Juicing is the fastest and tastiest way to get all those healthy vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and enzymes that our modern diets are lacking. If you are looking to lose weight then try our juicing recipes for weight loss.

They are highly nutritious, taste great and will help you shed the pounds in no time at all. In fact, many people have lost as much as 20 pounds in just two weeks of juicing!

One of the main benefits of juicing is that liquid puts very little stress on your digestive system. This means you have more energy, feel great and have a super healthy diet at the same time.

Juicing also allows you to consume much more fruit and vegetables (but be careful of putting too much fruit in your diet) than you would typically do in a regular diet. It also helps to suppress hunger pangs, which mean you can avoid succumbing to unhealthy foods that go straight to your waistline.

Can Juicing help you lose weight?

In short, yes it can! There are many well documented examples, and even documentary movies, demonstrating the power of juicing to help weight loss.

Even if you are not quite ready to go extreme and commit to a full juice fast, juicing can help you lose weight and vastly improve your diet.

Here are some of the ways in which Juicing helps you lose weight:

  • Prevents hunger – Juicing gives your body all the nutrients it needs, and then some! When your body is lacking nutrients, it makes you hungry. In this way, you will eat less and have fewer junk food cravings.
  • Convenience – Modern busy lifestyles cause us to make many poor diet decisions because of the convenience of fast food. Juicing takes just a few minutes and gives you fresh, delicious, healthy juice that satisfies you. This means you eat less junk food.
  • All Natural – Since juicing uses all natural produce, you can limit your exposure to processed foods. The chemicals and additives in such foods actively contribute to weight gain. Going natural, especially if you use organic produce, can avoid exposing you to such risks. Additionally, juicing is free from all preservatives since you control exactly what goes into each drink.
  • Flavour - Most of us could do with eating more healthy vegetables. Juicing helps us get the goodness of these in a much more flavourful way than eating raw vegetables. It can also help meet you 5-a-day requirement if you aren’t doing so already.
  • More energy – The goodness of juicing makes you feel and great and gives you more energy. You’ll be much more likely to go outside and do something active when you make juicing a part of your lifestyle.
  • Detox – Green juice full of chlorophyll is particularly detoxifying and can really help your liver and kidneys to flush out your system. Celebrities regularly go to such retreats to shed the pounds after an unhealthy spell. But you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to reap the benefits of juicing. Now, everyone can do it from the comfort of their own home.
There are two basic approach to losing weight by jucing:

Option 1: Juice fast

This is the most extreme option and does require willpower as you are changing everything your body has previously relied on to fuel it.

It involves restricting your diet entirely to juicing.

Different juicing fasts take different approaches and you should prepare properly before embarking on these.

Option 2: Occasional juicing

This approach doesn’t force you to give up on all solid foods and basically allows you to juice whenever you feel like it.

By replacing some of the foods you used to eat with juicing, you can fill your body with lots of essential nutrients. You’ll have much more energy and feel a lot less hungry throughout the day.

So long as you eat a reasonable diet at the same time, you can lose a lot of weight with this method.

Fruit vs vegetables

Generally speaking, vegetables are much better for you than fruit. Not to say that fruit is bad, but it does contain natural fructose which is a form of sugar (through a million times healthier than the high fructose corn syrup you’ll find in many soda drinks these days).
Nevertheless, fruit heavy juicing should be done in the morning or before exercise. This will help stop your body converting and storing this sugar as fat. Don’t worry if you don’t like the taste of vegetables though, it’s perfectly fine to add an apple or some lemon to into your juicer to completely hide the flavour.

The best types of vegetable to use are cruciferous vegetables. These include arugula, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage and kale. Make sure to drink more vegetable juices later in the day.
Of course, you are free to add them to any juice. In fact, that is strongly encouraged. The people who lose the most weight from juicing tend to have about 70-80% of their juicing ingredient be vegetables. These days, with modern juicers, that is easily achievable as some creative fruity ingredients can mask the taste of any vegetable.

How to juice?

There are two types of juicers. The first are centrifugal juices that have an upright design and juice by shredding fruit and veggies into a pulp while they spin rapidly to extract the resulting liquid. These are the most common and good ones like this are relatively inexpensive for all the health benefits they provide.

The second are masticating juicers which usually have a horizontal design that crushes and squeezes the juice out of vegetables and fruit. This produces both a higher quality and quantity of juice than most centrifugal juicers. The design is also much more effective when juicing highly nutritious greens like spinach, kale and wheatgrass.

If you take your juicing seriously it’s really worth investing in a powerful masticating juicer. In the long run you’ll get much more out of it and they are also much easier to clean.

Once you’ve got a juicer you’re happy with, check out the top recipes below from our “Juicing recipes for weight loss” book to help you make some fantastically healthy juices to help burn those pounds away.
